"Babylon Working" is a work of speculative fiction set in a dystopian future. Perpetual war and dictatorship has brought the world to the brink of destruction. Now comes a new horror, ancient and all powerful.

The story is set in a world where the popular conspiracy theories of today are truths, and explores the nature of power, both in the realms of humanity and a latent supernatural terror awakened after thousands of years.

"Babylon Working" combines Orwell's "Nineteen Eighty Four" and Heller's "Catch 22" with the horror tones of H. P. Lovecraft and modern classics such as George A. Romero's "Night of the Living Dead" films and Robert Kirkman's "Walking Dead" comic and TV series, in a startling and original satire on the world of 2017.

Davy Lyons writes speculative fiction and action/adventure comics, including several issues of the legendary "Commando", published in the UK by D.C. Thompson Ltd. He mainly spends his time writing, but has been known to work on the crew of feature films, adverts and music videos. Previously he toyed with very minor rock stardom and toured the UK and Europe with big hair and even bigger dreams but got too old for all that.

In the present, he's releasing the first issue of a brand new dark fantasy serial, "The Shadow Of Empire", and is working on the upcoming release of book two of his series, "Urban Myth". It's a dystopian urban fantasy/sci-fi set in the post-apocalyptic world of 2317, where society lives in huge urban domes, ruled by the mysterious and sinister Cyberete Corporation.

The Doctor crept to the TV, careful not to wake Shirl. It was a standardised machine with in-built DVD player, which refused to play anything from regions other than the Union States. He gave the disc a gentle shove into the open slot on the side of the TV and it choked into action, whirring and clunking. It lit up with a pop, forming into bleary colour.

Prime Minister Collins’ thin, ratty face materialised, short brown hair squaring off a jagged tooth grin. Forrester winced. He hated the man, even though the gnarly old bastard that still sat in 10 Downing Street was barely recognisable. The footage showed a young man in his thirties. Back then he looked strong, confident and in control.

Forrester could place this televised address to the nation. The day trial by jury was abolished, 5th November 2033, just a few weeks before the strike on Pakistan which escalated regional conflict into the Third World War. Forrester reached back to the coffee table, and scrabbled through the mess of papers until he located the TV control. Pressing the “up” arrow, a bar of green began rising on the screen and the rough edged voice of Collins filled the air.

"Whenever a new law is needed, the Liberals cry foul play – they demand this thing they call “human rights”. Rights? Tell me about rights! How about the right of the innocent citizen? Tell me of that! The right to walk down the street without the threat of being blown up by a crazy Muslim, a mad African, an Arab with a mission! The rights of the British people - that is the right of the majority!

No, the time has come. To them I say, it is over. The war will now be coming to you. The righteous war machine of the West has come to purge the Holy Land of these evil men. Not since Hitler marched his armies to within miles of our White Cliffs, when Albion’s fortress was violated by the German bombs…not since the Red Shadow of the East lurked over our shoulder, it’s deadly grimace focussed on our children’s future, have we faced such a challenge, such a fight…no, my people, the British people, the good working families of these fair Isles, not since these dark times has your country needed you so much…come, my charges, give your hearts to the fair green fields of our industrial Powerhouse Nation…"
